Atmospheric landscape paintings that transport you to tranquil, timeless spaces.

Large-scale intuitive oil paintings by Surrey Hills artist Katharine Le Hardy. Original works and bespoke commissions for collectors worldwide.

Step into a world where memory and landscape intertwine. From her studio in the Surrey Hills, Katharine Le Hardy creates atmospheric oil paintings that capture the essence of place through layers of gestural mark-making. Each painting invites you into a contemplative space where the boundaries between reality and imagination dissolve.

The paintings of Katharine Le Hardy reverberate with the play of shadow, light, and colour. In her immersive visual world, trees fill the picture plane and horizons become indistinct, echoing the forest as an entanglement of life-forms; trunks and branches cross the image, tapestry-like, interwoven. Layers of ghostly shapes emerge, as though seen through mist or memory, hinting at the indistinct temporality of the inscrutable forest floor.

Discover atmospheric landscapes ready to transform your space. Each piece is an original work, painted with the distinctive gestural technique and contemplative quality that defines Katharine's practice.

In this series, the artist’s distinctive, impressionistic style - distilled forms, sweeping brushstrokes and drips of paint - is amplified by the visual history we see embedded, the imprint of earlier layers remaining exposed beneath the surface. Combined with a thoughtfully limited colour palette, there is a depth and honesty that contributes to the sense of narrative within these landscapes. In this, Le Hardy captures something of the essence of experiencing nature unspoiled, be it in childhood, memory or dreams
